Switchboard & Meterboard Specialists
We specialise in switchboard maintenance and upgrades.
Switchboards are the heart of your home, the source of your power, safety and reliability.
If your home was built before the 1990s and you haven’t had any work on your switchboard since it is worth calling us to have a chat. Think of your switchboard the same way you think of your car, you wouldn’t leave your car 30 plus years without having a service, nor should you do the same with your switchboard. Homes built before the 1990s have either rewireable porcelain fuses or the very first circuit breakers that where made, as age gets the best of us it also gets the best of fuses and circuit breakers which dont always operate correctly under fault conditions due to their age and lack of service history.
Circuit breakers (MCBs) and Residual current devices (RCDs) should be tested frequently, homes built before the 1990s may not have RCDs installed. A RCD is a device designed to trip under fault conditions a lot faster than a fuse or a circuit breaker to protect you and your family from receiving a severe electric shock, RCDs are a legal requirement for this reason and for all new electrical works RCDs must be installed. RCDs are inexpensive for the value they provide and start as little as $120.00.
